New Animal Control Officer

The Town of Leeds has replaced the previous Animal Control Officer. As you may know, Wendall Strout, who served the town for over 20 years, passed away. We would like to introduce Nathan Lacasse to the town. He currently lives in Turner, where he is also the animal control officer. If you need him, he can be reached at 240-7623.

Online Dog License Renewals Are Now Open

Please renew your dog’s license online, if possible, or visit your town office after the November 3 election for in-person dog licensing.

The Animal Welfare Program is making this request in cooperation with the Maine Town & City Clerks Association to support municipal clerks and staff during the busy election season. Thank you for helping them focus on serving voters!

How to renew your dog’s license online

  • Find your dog’s tag number. Look on your dog’s tag or under “License Number” on your dog’s license paperwork, as shown in the two examples below: the printed paperwork and the metal tag.
  • Have a PDF or picture of your dog’s valid rabies certificate and a credit card ready. A clear photo of your dog’s valid rabies certificate taken with your cell phone is fine.
  • To log in, go online to the Maine Animal Welfare Programs Dog Licensing Webpage(opens in new tab) and follow these steps:
    1. Enter the number in the “License #” box. Add 26- before the tag number.

    2. Enter your last name as it appears on your dog’s license record.

    3. Click “Log in” and complete the renewal.

Having trouble? Please visit your municipal office for dog licensing assistance after November 3.
